Only a few more days until I get to report back to work. I'm pretty excited that this year I'll get to go to all of the preschool activities, including some much-needed time in my classroom. Last year, which was my very first year of teaching, I was allowed a few hours on the Friday before the start of the new year. These hours were spent hunting down a parking pass and whatever supplies fellow teachers (many of whom had been my own high school educators) were willing to part with.
This was my first revelation of teaching; all teachers are closet hoarders.
My first official day of work was the first day of school. I felt like I was barely treading water most of the year. As a non-education major, I did not have the benefit of an internship under my belt. I did have God on my side, plus the support of my family and an incredible group of colleagues.
This year I will start on time. I will play with my classroom set-up. I will put my pintrest addiction to good use.
During the year I was told to keep a journal. This past summer I've read some incredible teacher blogs. I will make an attempt to keep this blog interesting while satisfying the need for a journal. I also want to have each class period keep a class blog, so I think it's only fair of me to have to keep one of my own.
Thank you Father God for blessing me with the honorable position I now hold, I pray that You will help me to know Your will and to follow Your plan for myself and this career.
In Jesus' name, AMEN!
